Llama Trekking

Meet the Llamas of Hot Springs at a local trailhead for a guided llama trekking tour. We will learn all about llamas, connect with the unique biodiversity of the area, and discuss some of the interesting local history, all while being accompanied by the calming presence of a fleecy friend.

Llama trips/farm visits are only offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! The farm is not open to the public and visits are by appointment only (see below).

Read the descriptions below and then use the form to inquire about a hike or farm visit!

Silvermine Trail

This gentle out-and-back trail begins on the edge of town and follows Silvermine Creek deep into a rich cove forest. In Spring there is an array of wildflowers, Summer offers the dense canopy and cool creek crossings as a respite from the heat, Fall dazzles with the changing foliage, and Winter brings quiet stillness. Come and learn plenty about llamas, the Appalachian Trail, Hot Springs history, and Southern Appalachia’s biodiversity.

*Your feet will likely get wet on this one - I recommend sandals, waterproof boots, or a change of shoes/socks for after the trip.*

Cost: $60 per adult, $30 per child.

Duration: 1.5 hours, 1.5 mile out-and-back trail (easy).

Farm Visit

Come and visit the llamas at the farm! You’ll have the opportunity to feed and brush the llamas, watch a catch-and-halter demonstration, walk the llamas around the pasture (or down to the French Broad River), and learn about llama training and care. Great for younger kids and those with mobility concerns!

Cost/Duration: $25 per person for a one (1) hour visit. Children under 5 are free. Group rates for parties over 5 are available.

Visits to the farm are by confirmed appointment only! Our farm is not open to the general public.
