Educational Experiences

Llama education is a big part of the work that we do at Llamas of Hot Springs!

A typical visit usually consists of a talk to with children by Lead Llama Farmer David about where llamas come from, their traditional and modern uses, different fiber (fleece) types, the differences between llamas and alpacas, and their misunderstood reputation for spitting! We are happy to focus on particular topics that the children might currently be studying i.e. South America, Incas, alternative farming, llama fiber for clothing, composting, grazing animals etc. Children have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the talk.

During the visit, the children will be able to meet the llamas, and we will have a few haltered llamas that the children can stroke, brush, take photos with, and walk!

Event Rent-A-Llama

Llamas are a wonderful way to liven up a birthday party, wedding, or social gathering. Our llamas are great conversation starters and highly photogenic!

For $400, two llamas and a handler will travel up to 30 miles (from Hot Springs, NC) to your event and stay for a maximum of two hours.

Additionally, we enjoy coming out to support festivals, health & wellness events, and parades! Send us an invitation!

Contact david@hotspringsllamas.org for additional information.

If you’d like to have a llama join your classroom or meeting, but cannot visit in person, fret not! teleLlama is our farm’s latest invention, brought to you by satellites! We will join your virtual meeting and can provide a llama lesson with Q&A—or we can just hang out! We customize the visit to your needs and interests. It’s easy to set up and a lot of fun!
